speed of light~

some things dont come by that often..
some things happen to happen just without you anticipating it..
and other things just dont happen often enough.

birthdays come by once in a year.. not that often, an annual affair. but why am i complaining yeah? well if it's the merry-making that i enjoy so much, i've got some dear friends which i would very much gladly be merry with on their birthdays!! =P

the national team winning a title at the nearest international scene possible.. doesnt happen really that often enough, and it's the national football team's regional victory against our dear neighbour INA tonight.. a perfect bonus to the young players and the country (they took home USD100k in prize money!). minute but still, more good things to come perhaps? ... and the least anticipated, we all huddled around the living room, unnerved with each attack aimed at keeper Fahmi .. clearing of dishes, breaks for toilets, a good mug of nescafe, only at half-time! =D

the year end is blessed with a few good holidays too~ no less thanks to my woekplace's chairman-in-charged. so we have to practice the bunga raya♪ and the jingle bell rock♪ every morn at 8 ( =S ).. so i have to wait for the 'new' vvip room's new coat of paint to dry (blahh..) .. it's all part and parcel of what's called 'my-work'.

and this, is all part and parcel of what's called (my)Life.
=)

the speed of light~ while listening to the speed of sound by coldplay..
the year is (very) soon drawing to a close.
the local radio station's tagline this yearend: what exciting things have you achieved in '10? well, who cares!?!
let's just enjoy the annual transition on the eve of all eve, and think about Resolutions next year!
=P

11days to a spankin' new year..

how do you continue to suppress yourself when u already feel the absolute need to just shout out?
i cant do it on messenger.. and absolutely not on facebook
not when they're both all crawling with my colleagues (and bosses) from the office..
so by all means, blogging is the only way to go...

i am darn lazy to work now. the holidays feel have definitely kicked in~
the boss himself has been relaying things down this morning so that we dont call him when he goes on leave Next Week (it's only tue now... )

doesnt help that it's all rainy and greyish and moody..
doesnt help that i was late by about at least half an hour to woek today..
a car had turned turtle on the route towards sg buloh, and miraculously the road cleared right after i turned left into ldp towards pj. no wonder no one at the office believed me when i said "jam" today.
shocking.. shocking...

doesnt help that the team will be having a xmas dinner at the kl bird park tonight..
doesnt help with Kev repeatedly asking me how many bottles he should be bringing tonight. tequila? chivas? or just wine?
doesnt help that the company has got this friday officially off..

doesnt help at all...

hollidecember~

boi, it sure does feels like a weekend
a late saturday, early sunday kinda moment now..
when in fact, it was a monday night .. with a national holiday here on tue.

time for some gibberishing, my first in the month december
the one with most conflicting thoughts for moi~

different people lead different lives right ?
and different people carry different schools of thoughts in their heads, right ?
that's just how things are ~!

well i've been having a list of blogroll for some time now,
and i'd been increasingly checking in on their posts for some time now too.

a simple glimpse into their life perhaps,
an unintruding way of knowing what they were up to, what their hearts lust for, what their raging thoughts were.. although, i know not even one of them personally.
just interesting, random people chanced upon on the world wide web..
typecasted from the little fragments of personality they portrayed online

the way they write ..
the things they do .. the lives they lead..
but mostly, the template of their blogs.
plain, white backgrounds with grey/blue fonts never fail to fuel my enthrallments...

this is a nite after some wine. really, i am still, very sober.. sober enough i think.
a mish mash of all things tonight.
thank you sis, for the very, lovely thought :)
thank you friends, for the always, eye & mind opening conversations..
and thank you sir, for putting me into this situation.. yes, tq nevertheless..

sultry voices never fail to inspire.
or in this case, to gibber away ...

rainy days ahead~

these days the weather is rather predictable.. not that im complaining
just that before you know it, once you look out the window and the rain is already pouring..
just that you thought you've heard some thunderstorms and thought that it's goin to rain soon, just to find out that it's already raining cats and dogs outside..
just that you know that somehow you need to get to the car in time at 6pm sharp in order to beat the (almost always) mad rain..
just that the weather toolbar almost always shows this...

yes, welcome to our november.. and maybe even december...
makes good weather for bedtime tho'... =)

cords to ears~

most songs somehow sound somewhat better and more intoxicating when blasted directly to yer eardrums with the cords stuck to it..
all the more when performed in the sultry voice of ms joanna wang . . .

some folks like to get away, take a holiday from the neighborhood. hop a flight to miami beach or to hollywood. but i’m taking a greyhound on the hudson river line - i’m in a new york state of mind. i'd seen all the movie stars in their fancy cars and their limousines, been high in the rockies under the evergreens, but i know what i’m needing and i don’t want to waste more time... i’m in a new york state of mind. it was so easy living day by day.. out of touch with the rhythm and blues, but now I need a little give and take, the new york times, the daily news... it comes down to reality - and it’s fine with me ’cause i’ve let it slide, don’t care if it’s chinatown or riverside, i don’t have any reasons, i’ve left them all behind ... i’m in a new york state of mind

road trip~

like seriously, did i really spent close to an hour in the bathroom? thawing out myself while waiting for one of them to start fidgeting, showin' signs of an early breakfast perhaps?...
.
the air conditioning was unforgiving unexpectedly, the sheets were just a tad too tiny. and the door.. as blocked as my nose was. the bathroom, was my only respite. not like i didnt try holing up myself on the bed, it just couldnt work, and dozing back to slumber wasnt an option neither. so the warm rays of light through the bathroom window is all i can remember now of our lovely boutique hotel back on Jonker Street.. :)

but enuff about the bathroom. it was cosy nontheless, the hotel.. for one night.
and the location exceptional.
the cafe next door was pretty quaint too. okay, it would've scored better if the people running it were less frenetic.
other than that, it was perfect in fact... for our little excursion to a highly packed holiday town on a busy national holiday weekend.

it was a nice feeling, fuzzy even, watchin' our local folks peddling along this redbricked street.. made me wonder how long have they been there along the red giants?

the fountain ~ which had me practically pushin'em both in front of the camera~!

the river. some major cleanups mustav taken place. i remember peeking over the bridge near Chung Wah's then and imagined spotting maybe a croc amidst its floating logs...

and climb the hill we did. with my 10x zoom olympus, i managed to capture a piece of the malaccan straits..

fancy not recalling this at all during our school trips then.. ??

guess it must have been a long, long time ago then...
you know that must be the case when you realize you cant even figure out which side the main fort entrance was at... it all just gets very unfamiliar when you decide to go about the place topsy turvy..~

well, it was a blessing in disguise indeed... with the sun burning down our backs, we saw the inviting 'north entrance' of some mall right opposite the fort entrance =)
one which we dashed straight into after taking our group shot.
well, not a very romantic way of ending this quaint post, but still, great pictures aside, the cooling A/C of Conventional Mall wins hands down against the Great Ruins a n y t i m e.

i gotta say..

..dont know what's been going on with my time in october, and now it's the 20th of the month already.. i'm due for another round of away-time... yup, come 830AM nanti (in more or less 9hrs from now..) me and mates will be off on MAS to b a l i :)

the sweetest feeling to-date for month octo? that short (uh-huh, short) drive from office to home after work today.
pleased. . . i guess that was what the feeling was after all.
been banging around the office these past few days to make sure woek is done (or at least almost done) in time before the long weekend away.
payroll's due this week.. i tink i aced it just in time.
the 1st half meeting presentation slides (which i will Not be here to attend..) are due this week.. with me not being in town this weekend, will also mean i'll be spared of this friday's whole-office-hiking-trip-to-Broga-Hill-at-430am as well ;D
and the team's claims M U S T be processed a.s.a.p. now that Helen's last day is at the end of this week too~!!!
and of course, a whole bunch of other 'suddenly urgent' stufs since the boss remembered i'll be away for 3days straight. . .
so a slow drive along the ldp, with the rest of them cars flying by on the right lane, proved to be quite a therapeutic exercise i discovered today. unrushed, that's what i was... with woek concluded for the week and behind me, and luggage packing not due until it's late late tonight, i took my own sweet time manuevering along the highway... bliss. guess the unwinding has already begun.

but of course, before i come back with some bali trippin stories next week. here's a simple recap-to-self on life-recently ...

our play for the company's annual Raya & Mid-autumn Fest dinner ~Chang'er & Houyi~ went well, uhm.. save for the end part where the moon just wouldnt show up... O.o

timed-out with the gang at Velvet on a thur nite.. something different, something new. and yes, they should keep it at thursdays coz the fact that the next-day-is-a-friday is truly great consolation. (and now i cant get justin bieber's song out of my head whenever i think back to this night... ♪you know you love me, i know you care♪~)

the once-in-a-lifetime TenTenTen~!! how clever of these people to come up with a Fun Run huh? and just the right thing too, for me and gang to actually come together for again, something different :)

caught this with the gang on a fri night. a funny one, absolutely necessary for an after-work-movie. and one-half-main-act Mark Walhberg? remember what he used to call himself?

yep.. Marky Mark it is.

and finally... jess' wedding at ipoh. another road trip was called for this.. courtesy of steven, had me and audrey both hanging around most of ipoh's must-go-to-shop places on a sunday afternoon... (salted chicken, heong peah... yep, you get the gist... )

oh,look!

we "secretaries" are supposed to check the papers daily during lunch for tender announcements and such..
flippin the papers towards that section, we are bound to come across the comics and horroscopes part (is it just me?)
it is almost always inevitable that i would get curious enuff to check out my readings for the day.
i know it's all just some unreliable predictions and such, but yes, i always, do peek (do you? do you?)
and look what's in store for me today ... :

"you are longing for distant shores and may feel like getting on a plane and jetting off to an unknown destination. life cannot always be that exciting, so try to come to terms with a life that is more pedestrian."

O.o
i couldnt help but smirk while staring at that tiny paragraph next to the comic strips.

weekends are for R&R!

i just dont get how some people choose to simply occupy their weekends with chores and running arounds.
i mean, weekends are for rest, people!
is it them or is it just me then ? ? ?

i'd just spent my friday evening and saturday running about .. albeit doing nothing earth-moving, but still, i'd barely had time for MEtime... you know, simply lazing around the haus , flippin through the papers, enjoying my mug of nescafe, or just channel surfing!!

i'd tried not to procrastinate.. so while spending these weekend times with family and friends, i try my best to enjoy their company, and put away 'me-thoughts'. i try my best to not hurry them, to not hurry myself... i try my best to laugh with them, soak in the humor and easy-breeziness of it all... i try.

but when i find myself even making the effort to try, it simply brings home the message that something is not so right somewhere within..
nothing chronic, but still..
i guess i gotta get to the root of the problem, and figure out things before i look back and see it all a waste of time and age. . . trying.

a good rest. maybe that's all i need. and that is exactly what i'll allocate my sunday to.
oh btw, hav you guys heard of that guy who won the 48mil toto jackpot?
gosh... bet that'll solve all my problems huh ? ? ?

all in a day of woek..

just when i thought the weekend was finally approaching,
and that i culd finally have a night of late-tv-marathon or sumthing of that sort, (been bunking out early before 11pm throughout the weekdays..),
woek decided to extend its hours on a friday... which was worse than any normal 'extensions' as this one involved some silly politician-clients who wanted to print some equally silly election flyers at the lastest minutess!!!!
the amount of coordination work and printing time alone had me bumbling along between calls to the client, to the boss who wasnt in, to jane from the art department, and to my dear sales guys who would eventually come back to the office at closing time to help with the printing.. (tq! eric, zen & Kevin!!)
missing out on en rais' open house at our dataran prima office wasnt the biggest issue then, but now that i think of it, i do feel kinda missed-out of that function.. it was, after all, the first raya open house held officially at the KST office...~ oh well... guess i'll just be thankful the whole lot of mess was cleared by 9pm on a fri . . . =S

and today (saturday), was our official first rehearsal for the upcoming dinner-play.
yes, there's going to be another dinner at the office, this time for the Raya cum Mid-Autumn Fest celebrations, and it's going to be another performance required from us . . .
them bosses made it clear-er this time, they wanted the tale of chang-er`, that ancient gal who popped some pills and flew to the moon . . . (if you're also thinking of that one with the ten suns tale, then yes, you've also got it right).

rewind to wed evening: Got a call from kev, there will be a GRC meeting at 8am the next morning. it'll be on the coming dinner, fine.. but what has it got to do with me, i asked? i'm only the past grc-secretary!! ~ ~ ~

thur morn: 8am the meeting started. blah blah blah, jen's in-charged of a chinese play/dance performance (wuz like, waht? again ?!?? .. i'm like whut, 5-yrs old in this company and i'm still required to these choreographs? what happened to "leaving some opportunities to the new bloods"? and they're leaving us with like 3 days for the preparations? are they getting more notorious by the years or waht???) sigh......

well, well, again, .. if you cant beat 'em, might as well just join 'em!
once the name's been mentioned by the group MD himself, there's simply just no running away, and that's known fact for all of us there long enuff . . .
and so began my clicks on the internet, prepping up on the story of chang-er (wikipedia did the job fine!), prepping up on the costumes required for chang-er and the bloke houyi (found this costume rental place in pelangi d'sara ... 'costume world' with some serious stocks of whatever u can think of! .. oh, the convenience! we were damn impressed!) .. and finally, prepping up the team itself! thought it would do some good to get the team members motivated in the first place before we attempt any full-steam-aheads. fast-and-painless, that was always my motto for these 'side-projects' at the office, and that's what i made sure they know of. my assurance to them, in some ways... :)
roped in helen as co-pilot, joseph as creative director, bryan as male lead houyi, and aini as female lead chang-er.

fast-forward to saturday, today, we finally kicked off our first rehearsal. and i cannot heap enuff thanks and praises to kev, for all his enthusiasm and contribution to this play!!!
sure, he's the grc president and the dinner committee chairman and all, but the kind of eagerness and practical help that he actually put in, was really something that ive not seen before in any of the past presidents. he actually took my storyline and matched it with his own-edited background music complete with good-to-evil-song changes, eville laffs, and sound effects of arrows-bursting-9-suns!!!
to sum it all up, this is just great!!
we were only given like THREE working days to materialize everything that they'd envisioned.
so we cant be sure that we've aced all that they were having in their mind, but still, for something cooked up in less than 3 days! i am feeling mighty proud of my team here!
so now, i'll be happy enuff to just sit back as the scriptwriter, and have kev as our director from bollywood(!). the costumes' all set and paid for, the main leads already know what they're supposed to do, kev will be up with the final song edits by monday, and the supporting casts (including meself) have easy-enuff-roles that wont jeopardise the play. so as usual, i'll just let things run its course.. =)

oh darn, i'm suppose to come up ready with the props too~
that will entail sumthing like a tennis ball as the pill, and some arts-and-crafts for a big, beaming moon! ! ! s w e a t . . .

as i sat there this afternoon during rehearsal at our function room, lazing on the green banquet chair watching them rehearse onstage, i thought to myself, that this is just another day at woek... ohmmm~~~

Báng-kah

"Monga (chinese: 艋舺) is a 2010 taiwanese gangster film set in 1980s taipei. the movie stars ethan ruan, mark chao, rhydian vaughan,.. and a few others.. "
yup, those are excerpts from what i could manage from wiki (as much as i always liked to heap praises on wiki, their competency on chinese articles however, needs serious improvement i do think..)
another piece of news worthy to note: "The movie was filmed on location and landmarks such as Longshan Temple and Huaxi Street (snake alley).
the movie opened in taiwan on 5 February 2010 and grossed NT$8.31 million in the first day and NT$59.32 million in its first weekend of release, higher than the worldwide hit Avatar that week."

facts and figures aside, i'd always wanted to catch this one since me and sis saw their promo posters around ximending during our taipei trip back in april... they eventually made it to our shores somewhere later in jul/aug ... but knowing my cinema-kakis very well, this wouldnt even stand a placing in their to-watch-list.

so it is only after much hassle in downloading and reloading of the qvod player (courtesy of sis of course), that i've managed to watch the entire length of the film, uninterrupted.

but oh, the perils of watching this taiwanese production (with a huge smatter of tai-yu thrown in), WithOut any english subtitles... O.o ughh... i had to just count on guess and sense to make out the cause and effects...
and the fact that this was all set in the '80s... to see xiao tian in those flowery, tight fitting, retro ensembles... mmhmm... Q u e e r.

oh well.
and finally at the end of it all... i hav print-screened the following to sum it all up...

lima sekawan in happier days..

and the end?

my aug week4

i guess this has been a week that was more peculiar than the others ..
even right now, at this moment, i can hear the chants of terawih prayers blasting about from the mosque behind my house, and the piercing opera play staged just in front of my house. talk about 1Malaysia eh??
well but then, dont get me wrong, overall it's just like the average week.. weekday and weekend.. but still... so hear me out now...

it all started out pretty much the same.. monotonous monday...
then on tuesday night, the A/C broke... the unit was spewing warm air, with the current climate here in kl, we wasted no time getting the repairman in the next day.
mom called in the office the next day, so turned out the compressor was a goner. great.. first it was the car's A/C, now the room's... all in the merry month of August.. so i consoled myself, that things surely will get old and worn out. and the repair bills will definitely make their ways in
O.o

that sorted out, spent wednesday night getting about kl downtown on an lrt + monorail joyride with the gang from office.. yes, the girls from 3rd floor somehow managed to clinch a free meal out of one of our directors from the office.. and it turns out my name was on the list too~
the first mention of traveling downtown to jogoya @ starhill from pj on the public transport system was pretty daunting to me.. it did crop up in me that maybe it isnt worth all that hassle at all... but then somehow i had this nagging note-to-self that i shouldnt always be the procrastinator. and so in the name of 'giving face' to dear ol' mryap, i merrily joined the gang on a long-forgotten LRT ride at the paramount station, and later embarked on my maiden trip on the city's monorail system from kl sentral to bukit bintang. we couldnt help smiling sheepishly to each other along the trip, especially between me and audrey. seriously, the LRT? but, some good did come out of it though,.. (i chose to think at least).. i got to see the insides of the pudu jail from the moving monorail...!
=D

thursday night was another ballgame in its own.
in keeping with the Non-procrastinator and Non-pessimist mantra, i'd decided to join the girls from office (again) for club nite at Gsix @ the Gardens.
i've heard of the horror stories from my mates, of Gsix and all its 'fishy' patrons.. but still, i marched on. the night, i gotta say, was just so-so for me. although there wasnt much to complain about i'd found, i also couldnt help wondering why my watch ticked so slowly that night.
(my dear mate's status comment on FB today was just so apt; i dont see myself able in handling the clubs anymore now too) ... poor last-day-gurl was totally wiped out by the time we turned left towards pj from bangsar.. i've had to stop and my hazards lights on twice along the way! my only consolation? entry and liquor was cheap.. (only 2 bottles of black label for all 13 of us?!) and i won my case in stopping at murni @ ss2 for my maggi goreng fix ...
=)

friday was state holiday for Selangor.. and a few other states here in malaysia.
got roped in for a shopping tour of pavilion by bestie. which was great... like i would actually drive myself there to shop.. ?
met up with future-director for lunch @ kampachi.. which would've almost been perfect had combust managed to join us in time too. all four of us lunching together in kl. like, how often can that happen? finally managed to scour the floors for a long overdue hoodie and a much needed new cardigan.. but i think, the highlight of the day's walk.. we practically whiled the hours away effortlessly, sipping coffee at starbucks and then again at espressamente illy..
XD

saturday. saturday came and so did our plan to jog at frim.
did the usual packing for the run, and realized that i couldnt find my ipod. which was amusing, because no matter how messy my desk was, there was no way i could miss the long white cords. a quick look at the other side of the table, and i almost had it for sure. even the charger cable was not at its usual place! some quick and urgent calls later, mom managed to get the A/C repairman to help check for it. pretty devastated along the jog.. musicless, half-lost-cause, i even thought to myself that perhaps i'll have the new unit engraved rokujen`II.

thank goodness to the few good honest ppl still in kl (this repairman inclusive), my ipod's home all safe and sound now. i did whine to bestie along our jog.. why would ppl go through all these hassle, give in to all these silly temptations, causing these unnecessary troubles to ppl? and eventually themselves? mr honest-repairman told us he found the ipod among the suspected worker's belongings, and had him fired promptly. . . =S

i guess it just goes to prove to some extent, that Sexy is really a state of one's mind. a feeling, result from the projection of an item through various abstract reasons other than just visual feasts.

from Glamour's 50 Sexiest Men poll.. behold, the top 20 Sexiest Men of 2010:
1. Robert Pattinson 2. Taylor Lautner 3. Ian Somerhalder 4. Xavier Samuel 5. Kellan Lutz 6. Johnny Depp 7. Justin Bieber 8. Gerard Butler 9. Hayden Christensen 10. Channing Tatum 11. Orlando Bloom 12. Chace Crawford 13. Chris Brown 14. Justin Timberlake 15. Cristiano Ronaldo 16. Ryan Gosling 17. Ed Westwick 18. Ashton Kutcher 19. Jake Gyllenhaal 20. Bradley Cooper

quoting from: http://entertainment.malaysia.msn.com/photos/photos.aspx?cp-documentid=4287060
Glamour's acting editor Charlotte Duck said: 'Women are attracted to vampires because of the element of danger that comes with them. They are the ultimate bad boys - and women want to tame the beasts.'

ok, fine. i'll accept that like it's some scientifically proven fact with the XX population (no thanks in part to twilight i bet..)

fast

fast. not like in fasting month, but rather, fast days, fast months, fast years! (gulpp?)

it's the ramadhan month again. yes, it is kind of significant to me cuz my malay colleagues get to clock out one hour earlier than me (& that's a big deal to me), and dad goes on his fasting spree again.
other things that remind me it's soon Eid again, Mr.PA asking us officially, to start putting up the Raya decors again, and the canteen at frim is closed again.

things that remind me that the months and years are coming fast and furious?
annual stuffs.
annual stuffs like the company's annual Buka Puasa & Mid Autumn Fest dinner.
annual stuffs like shopping for pretty mooncakes for the haus (baker's cottage has got their decent flyers reaching our office doorstep already!)
annual stuffs like performance appraisals at the office. . . . .

but, all is not lost. a quick flip at the calendar... these babies are coming our way!
Aug 27th nuzul al quran a public holiday for our sweet selangor Aug 31st our dear nation celebrates her (wait lemme check..) ahh, 53rd birthday! Sep 10th & 11th it's the Raya celebrations for our Muslim mates, and national public holiday for the rest of us.. Sep 16th hear ye! hear ye! the inaugural Malaysia Day national holiday!!! Oct 20th - 22nd another self-declared one, this time to Bali~ Nov 5th Diwali, the festival of lights falls on a Friday.. read: long weekend! Nov 17th it's raya qurban again.. sweet~ and finally on Dec 7th it's the awal muharram... totally clueless on what this one's about, but hey.. it's still sweet all the same...

well, darn it tho' .. xmas falls on a Sat this year.. and that means so does New Year's ... that's 2 missing should-be holidays there!! =P

alivenotdead

yes, i tink if im not wrong, that's a catchphrase from them HK hot-men group of daniel wu and mates... "Alive"
nevertheless, this post is not about them.

it's been a hot weekend.. and despite the heat and all, im having a massive bout of flu. the eyes and nose are forever flooded.. i sneeze at the slightest change of temperature and onset of foreign smells in the air. joss sticks scent, char koay teow smoke from the shops.. you name it. my nose, it's no good you know..

anyhow. a family friend of ours recently suffered a stroke. very unfortunate indeed, she's not even in her forties. not fatal though, but i guess it'll be a life-changing phase nevertheless. she's out of the ward now, so i learned acupuncture is the next best thing for her now. "hypertension" was the key word it seems... hmm, hmm, hmm ....

i guess if it's not something congenital, then it must boil down to one's eating and lifestyle habits. dont forget the annual checks, mates!

and so without further ado, i felt it was absolutely urgent that i started sweating again...

joglog #17: started brisk walking again after so long a break.. took the long route, took me close to one half hour to get back to the car. the padang was totally empty, and i was flooded with much greenness while sitting there at the wooden steps... the canteen is closed again.. it's ramadhan again!

and guess what i saw while waiting at the carwash later...
that's Pendek with the BabyLike truck. i see they've got a new artwork on. well, it's been almost 5 years now anyways... things must change.

i dont think Pendek recognizes me though, he looked puzzled as i whipped out the phone to shoot him and the truck. i shot him a jumping-eyebrows... then he returned a smile...

so this post? yeah, i guess i'll just label it as a joglog.. with many additional gibberishing thrown in...

coraline

Coraline is a 2009 Oscar-nominated American stop-motion 3-D fantasy film based on Neil Gaiman's 2002 novel of the same name. the rest, you can read from wikipedia..

when you really fancy something, you'd find most of its corelated stuffs equally appealing, intriguing, and charming too~

just look at these promo posters... very appealing indeed..~

like a jammed up Jack..

you know, i think, July happened slowly.. like a migraine.
it's like, the 3rd week of the month already, yet it feels like july took forever to reach here and now.
i guess, it's been so slow it's almost a pain because there was/is nothing, in july.
it never was.., never did, never came, never happened. it was bare, unhappening.. july, the sobering glitch in the middle of the year.. it's almost like a jammed up jack-in-the-box.
well, safe for the world cup climax at the beginning of the month, but ozil and team never made it to the most coveted spot..
throw in (on a more personal note), the bon odori excitement that never materialized.. it ended, the idea, as hurriedly as it came.
the birthday celebration that got out of the way,.. one which so deftly, twisted and slipped by its seasoned grips..
the jacob sponsored frim family-walk that aint gonna happen... which i'll just put down to a "everyone's just so occupied these days" with a shrug.
does make me wonder then, whether the month-end quarterly management meeting scheduled for a saturday would skip-by postponed too...

other than that, the brain's no good this month to be of any contribution here.
i'll just continue to go drown and numb myself in gaiman's american gods...

it's july~

it's the first day of the year's second half . . .
the first of july, 2 0 1 0 . . .
returned home from woek crawling through the clogged ldp, wipers in clockworks, and the AC blowing straight at my soggy pants legs . . .

at this part of PJ.. somehow or rather, i've always managed to capture some pretty decent skyshots. perhaps due to the void of any skyscrapers ... or simply, the everguaranteed pre-traffic lights crawl on this stretch ...

tik tok cross your toes!

sometimes i do wonder.. whether the boss has had his regrets having my pc screen facing inward towards me and the wall behind me.
or was there any a time when he’d wonder what i was doing squinting my eyes at the screen, but hands, NOT moving.
or maybe he’d be spot on each time, knowing very well that i was just doing something else but Work on the world wide web.

either ways,
when on days like these, i just couldn’t be bothered to bother…
tick tock tick tock … almost time now (toes crossed too..)

charmed~

this is all about the song 'remember' .. originally by taiwanese songstress A-Mei.
of course, i only heard of it through Khalil's cover efforts on his Timeless album.

it wasnt really even one of my favs while discovering timeless back in sep last year.
alas, it was meant to shine quite brightly i had found ... while at his concert held recently here in may at Genting. and i was again, reminded by sis today at home.. when she swore that she will be singing this one the next time she hits her karaoke nook..

look what i found while foraging Youtube for amei's original version.
yes, yes, her voice is all solid and really emotionally coined to the song. perfect.
but this, this is like a combi of both my spotlighted taiwanese male singers..!
Jam Hsiao + Khalil Fong ... =P how much more can you ask for in a night huh?? =D

hsiao's voice is all rocker-ish and really powerful.. the intensity as if burnt into the song..
but khalil's more soulful i do feel... it was less intense, at the same more controlled..
amei's .. well no doubt, this song when sung in a female's point of view... makes it a different song entirely.

listenin to khalil's version now on my shuffle, with the sound of the vuvuzelas cut out, it just brings it all back .. the concert.. this song to be exact.
the part where the whole stage shuts down for that second, and then the next, they blasted it back on.. the percussions, in perfect precision.

the month that was: May`

i gotta say... May was really fast. at least for me it was.
i really shouldnt be doing this, not now, not tonight, as i still after all, have a 0730 admin meeting to attend the next morning.
anyhow, a slow and serene scanning of my previous logs, and i am now feeling all calm and zen-ish to just slot in some few lines, maybe . . .

May was fast, primarily i tink, due to my 3weeks plus of OT-ing at the office with Audrey, the sometimes Loon, Zie, K and the on-off Dilla. daily bouts of waking up blurry-eyed, then woeking throughout the day, and then into the night after some dinner (sometimes supper), did not bode well with my system at all. thinking back now, jogs at my fav green haunt were not as enjoyable, nights after OT were spent in front of the then new 40" LCD, refusing to simply let the night sink under the Suzhou silk sheets...

and then, before you know it... it all came to an abrupt end. had not anticipated the job to be completed so soon, anyhow, no complaints in that dept from me! celebrated that weekend itself with a nice meal with mom, sis and yang at Victoria Station, medan damansara... Gorgeous steaks..~ thick with wild mushroom sauce.. yumm~!
and the next day, the gang were game for some bangsar do ~ and so we were at Alexis. . . my dear mates were deprived of their darling tiramisu, but still, i had my fair share of relaxation with the bottle of red. yes, unintruded relaxation for a chill out saturday night . . . ~

next thing which came up, the Wesak Day weekend swings by . . . it was time for our trip uphill. =D
yes, we brought mom along with us ~ yay! hahah!
we enjoyed the fact that she enjoyed her trips to the casino at First World.
we enjoyed the fact that yang is getting old enough to not fit into most of the kiddy rides, yet not big enough for the outdoor rides.
we enjoyed the fact too that, our tickets to the Khalil Fong concert at the Arena of Stars was very well worth it . . . not yet an entirely huge, Huge fan, but still. . . he was amazing to watch all the same. now that i'd checked on it, he covered all the songs from his Timeless album (the concert after all, was named Timeless~), and quite a few numbers from his previous albums too~ we saw that he was everywhere on the stage. no, not dancing or prancing around in slick moves, but~! with the guitars, on the keyboards, the grand piano, even on the drums~!! and he had this funny gadget that changes his voice as he sings into it. i think that was when he did Stevie Wonder's you are the sunshine of my life . . . hahah!
the joy of watching the performance rolled out L!VE right in front of you, yes~!! very 'alive' indeed~!!!

and now, after the dreaded 0730 meeting in a couple of hours later, will look forward to packing my bags, for a 4d3n Phuket re-trip . . .
will be on leave for 3days straight... the beloved co. has had the infamous "Joint Leave" rule re-installed . . . so i guess i'll just be hanging around at home come wednesday...

like what i'd put in my FB statuses (couldnt help it . . . ):
... like a wobbly boat ride in choppy waters, you're never sure you're safe until you reach shore...
but then, the irony that is~ even after reaching shore, the tides can still pull you offshore all the same... =S

enlightenment? so simple?

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
"Vesākha ... is an annual holiday observed traditionally by Buddhists in the South Asian and South East Asian countries of nepal, singapore, vietnam, thailand, cambodia, Malaysia, sri lanka, myanmar, bangladesh, indonesia and india.
sometimes informally called "Buddha's Birthday", it actually encompasses the birth, enlightenment (Nirvana), and passing away (Parinirvana) of Gautama Buddha."

wow. i hear some of my friends asking around in facebook who would be heading over to Brickfields tonight for the Vesak Day celebrations... (is that what you call it? celebrations?)
it's funny how you get reminded of the significance of this holiday via some status updates on FB.
the most significant part of this all to me, i must say, ashamedly too, is basically the H O L I D A Y part. i know this doesnt sound right, i do after all, have my admirations for all things Siddharta. but still... maybe the time, my time, is not here yet.

for now, i'll take joy in knowing what Vesak Day is all about. and take pleasure on the fact that it is national holiday tomorrow.... i mean today. Good vesak day, people~!

tender+rental=surrender

having sumthin' to look forward to... yes, that is what makes it all worthwhile.
and i mean ALL all.

mom went through her scope smoothly, the doctor assured it's no biggie. just some bits of ulcers and bruises inside. medication will be sufficient for the time being. =)
on that same day, sis mentioned about catching khalil fong's upcoming concert at Genting this May. great! free rides up the hill are always welcomed. but guess what? mom expressed her wish to tag along!!! =D
well, not for khalil of course, she said she'd be fine just hanging around the casino while we swoon ourselves mad elsewhere.
the point is... mom never tells us that she would like to go somewhere. anywhere. (a weekday trip to the local Jusco doesnt count). so, by all means then, we had made it a mission, TO GO UPHILL THIS WESAK DAY!!! =D

at about this time last year... June 21st to be precise, me, sis and dad went for this fun run sort of walk at the Metropolitan Park. sis and me had then, vowed to do something for our health. fast forward this year, sis shoved this into my msn window the other day....
Yes! we are doing it again this year... yup, right smack in July. and guess what now? this time they'll be having it at FRIM! my training ground FRIM!! =D
the thing will go on a sunday.. so peeps, if you're planning for your morning jog there that day, please move it to the evening. else, register now and join us there at 6AM!! (gulpp.... f*cking early i know) but still... it's something that i do look forward to .. =)

and of course, the travels to come.... not belittling 'Plan A' here, but really... 2011 is still many, many months ahead.
we do have, however, islands... plenty of islands, in the line-up.
up next in June, i'll be hitting Phuket with my mates.... i heard over the radio of more alarming news on the current protests there (TH)... i do hope they'd just contain it within BKK.. no offense to those planning their trip there anytime soon... :) perhaps they'd left Platinum Mall still intact!
speaking of which, phuket will be another re-trip that i'll be doing this year. i do think however, that June's calm seas will differ greatly from July's rain clouds. . .

and then, October will come.. yes, finally, will be flying to Denpasar via MAS (*beaming...). i'll be there for the balinese massages, the balinese architectures, the tanah lot water inundated temple, the..the... i dunno.
that sounds pretty breathtaking A L R E A D Y . . . =)

so... all i'm saying is: this is all just crap after a long week's neverending, everurgent woek.
some dishing is required, after all, i need balancing myself too~~~ (*smirk!)
for now, enjoy the weekends~!!! (i know i will...)

this is simply, my joglog#14:
am running out of things to shoot honestly, at frim.. so i got this captured for today's run. the admin/museum building inside frim..
i must say, the front lawn looks pretty neat there..

evening jogs are honestly less fun. i somehow rather get that feeling that my sunday's pretty much ending soon... anyhow. i had vowed to continue with the jogs. even though i'm still charting a dismaying 30 minutes just to reach the clubhouse from the entrance
=S
wonder when can i achieve jogging without any stops...

for something that is a must,..
this was really not that bad at all ...

chaos, sweat, and aching-all-over aside, (i WILL remember the afternoon beach games.. XD)
the after-trip eye sees these pretty pix with puffy clouds as serene giants overlooking the grounds, as little people scurry about their daily ups and downs . . .

@ The Regency Tanjung Tuan Beach Resort, Port Dickson

the after-trip mood is as always, nonchalant and balmy...
not as far as melancholic this time, as it was after all, a company function (family day 2010~).. woek related, so this was really no 'big-break-from-the-office-faces' to begin with ...
and with my few good kakis, i somehow did manage to have fun along the way too . . .

grey

on the side note: is grey somewhat associated with bleak?

i know in life, there isnt always just black and white. i know i'd blogged about this previously but then tonight, this is of an entirely different context...
this is how i think, all these times.. that life, does not exist simply in just black or white. there are always grey areas in between and around... these grey areas, they allow me spaces in between the two extremes... allow me an avenue where nothing is forever right, and nothing is indefinitely wrong.
but then, when too many grey areas exist.. somehow, do things still work? the way it should?
when there are no extremes at all, do you still strive to achieve that either one end? or do you just simply hang around forever in between?
i should ask myself again then, what is the way that should?
however, tonight, most unfortunately.. i'd came to realize two things that is definite. at least it is to me, tonight.
by tonight, i should be giving up entirely on 2 things .. which so happen to take the most precious standings in my life, and yet, nothing more which i could do about.. to give up, is indeed a sad outcome. . . still, i do not think i need to subject myself to such pains...

earth day~

well guess what, it's earth day today~!
i saw it on Google earlier this week ~ a very nice, green forest foliage image.
but i was too tied at the office, finishing off seemingly endless annual sales and product reports in time for the AGM today. yes, today, Earth Day.
so now, with all the chaos having settled down, and with the sales team happily munching away at Yuen's sunway, i am at home, logging into my fb... when i saw this among the wall posts:
so this is Earth Day.... what have i done enough or not for this earth?
i do turn my tap off when i'm brushing my teeth.. something which i'd been doing since my secondary school days...
but, no.. i do not separate my trash..
and i still havent gotten around to using my enviro-friendly WWF bag for my groceries shoppin`....
i still hav my AC on every night.... some pleasure that i cannot live without.. not when the room's been baked the whole day by the hot, equatorial sun. . .
and yet, i take my warm showers for way too long a time... and when it's cold water straight from the tap, it is always by the bucketfuls... coz seriously, when i resort to bathing cold water, it simply means the day's been just too warm!!!

so i guess i'm not doing much at all then. . .
hmm~ something for me to ponder about. . .

still, good day to you, Earth!! =D

hahah~
seriously... i'd never seen this before in all my previous jogs at frim.
maybe it was because i never go that route the opposite way before,
or maybe it was simply because jamie has got a keener eye on humor~

to have this roadsign inside frim... one way to the waterfall picnic area, and the other way to Kepong ? ? ?
shouldnt it read like.. we dont know,,, EXIT perhaps???
=D
ticklish humor aside, it was a great jog nontheless~ ~ ~

ytl madness~

i should do this. it is late.. (or should i say early?) but i should do this.
maybe, i'm still in escape mode. yes, plus the talks on some 3-weeks off work to go traversing in some eu countries... hmm~ not helping at all.
guess i'll just cap up the travel entries within this weekend, and i shall focus seriously on woek come monday, and maybe work on the reserves too... =)

Cameron Highlands Resort @ Tanah Rata, was to me in fact, a trip prolonging the holiday mood. reached KL on thur nite, and joined the gang for a trip uphill on Fri morning.
not before stopping at Bidor for some famous noodles, we finally reached YTL's CHR by somewhere noon-ish.
yes, notice the branding YTL. that was the sole reason we went up (at least to me it was...)
and this, was the highlight of the 3D2N package:

thinking back now, couldnt imagine what i'd miss if i'd skipped the Spa package!! yikes!!!
the therapists were great. think it being some non-peak season helped a lot too.
and the tea-bath soak, was really splendid too~ sheer indulgence i'd say....
1
1
some of the blissful shots taken~

dreamy poster beds.. the norm at CHR. very plush and comfy indeed~

first night's dinner (we opted out from CHR's lunch + dinner package..) at one of the many steamboat joints. those snouts coming out from the pots were for some special herbal soup-based steamboat heated using coal. we went for the usual yin-yang instead. the gang just couldnt live without tomyam~

afternoon itinerary included the Sungei Palas 'BOH' Tea Centre.

this, their exhibition area. tastefully done i must say... spacious! spacious!!

night activities, besides bucking at the local Starbucks, some mustav card games and wine. the Bruce Lee playing cards that i'd brought back from Jiufen as souvenirs for the gang proved to be handy as mr. gamemaster artfully kept all tools downhill . . .
and those, yes, all 5 bottles... within 2 nights of course~
