Báng-kah

"Monga (chinese: 艋舺) is a 2010 taiwanese gangster film set in 1980s taipei. the movie stars ethan ruan, mark chao, rhydian vaughan,.. and a few others.. "
yup, those are excerpts from what i could manage from wiki (as much as i always liked to heap praises on wiki, their competency on chinese articles however, needs serious improvement i do think..)
another piece of news worthy to note: "The movie was filmed on location and landmarks such as Longshan Temple and Huaxi Street (snake alley).
the movie opened in taiwan on 5 February 2010 and grossed NT$8.31 million in the first day and NT$59.32 million in its first weekend of release, higher than the worldwide hit Avatar that week."

facts and figures aside, i'd always wanted to catch this one since me and sis saw their promo posters around ximending during our taipei trip back in april... they eventually made it to our shores somewhere later in jul/aug ... but knowing my cinema-kakis very well, this wouldnt even stand a placing in their to-watch-list.

so it is only after much hassle in downloading and reloading of the qvod player (courtesy of sis of course), that i've managed to watch the entire length of the film, uninterrupted.

but oh, the perils of watching this taiwanese production (with a huge smatter of tai-yu thrown in), WithOut any english subtitles... O.o ughh... i had to just count on guess and sense to make out the cause and effects...
and the fact that this was all set in the '80s... to see xiao tian in those flowery, tight fitting, retro ensembles... mmhmm... Q u e e r.

oh well.
and finally at the end of it all... i hav print-screened the following to sum it all up...

lima sekawan in happier days..

and the end?
sometimes, things never need too long a time to change.

another itch scratched...
