enlightenment? so simple?

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
"Vesākha ... is an annual holiday observed traditionally by Buddhists in the South Asian and South East Asian countries of nepal, singapore, vietnam, thailand, cambodia, Malaysia, sri lanka, myanmar, bangladesh, indonesia and india.
sometimes informally called "Buddha's Birthday", it actually encompasses the birth, enlightenment (Nirvana), and passing away (Parinirvana) of Gautama Buddha."

wow. i hear some of my friends asking around in facebook who would be heading over to Brickfields tonight for the Vesak Day celebrations... (is that what you call it? celebrations?)
it's funny how you get reminded of the significance of this holiday via some status updates on FB.
the most significant part of this all to me, i must say, ashamedly too, is basically the H O L I D A Y part. i know this doesnt sound right, i do after all, have my admirations for all things Siddharta. but still... maybe the time, my time, is not here yet.

for now, i'll take joy in knowing what Vesak Day is all about. and take pleasure on the fact that it is national holiday tomorrow.... i mean today. Good vesak day, people~!

another itch scratched...
