a good round of dinner, (to me; today;) was simply, a nice mom-cooked meal at home, with the usual simple dishes, tucking in at my usual seat at the dining table, with my favourite pair of fork + spoon, and my favourite squarish Darlie plate, with the tv tuned to cartoon network in front of me, Yang busy with his toys, mom busy with her PSP, dad busy cleaning the cabinets (someone's in CNY mood obviously..) sis safely on her way home, and the day's papers spread beside me..
of course, as per usual, a good round of dinner never fails to induce a good round of snooze time. ahh, the joy of diving into the sheets.. with dinner nicely down the tract.
yes, it's been normal practice these days... i'd snooze until late, late, and then get up for shower.
lately, i'd been finding faults with the system.
as in, i'd been poking around the office asking colleagues what they think is the 'ideal' working hours. some are cool with the current ei8ht to si6, but still, most prefer one that starts at least at 0830 hours. hmmm..... needless to say, i'd been late to work 3 out of 5 days this week, a result of my defiance against living life like a school going child.. futile attempts but still, apologies were accepted nontheless... the boss is getting better at turning a blind eye these days. mm hmm, i guess it's the CNY mood working its magic around the office as well ... =D
and then at approximately 3 hours later, i'd wake up by auto mode, and decide to hit the showers. one nice one later, i'd find the sleepy head in me out on detour.
with the senses newly awakened, that's when i settled in for another nice one on astro celestial.
at about the right time, the tv in the haus would belong to non other than yours truly.
"Heavenly Mission" ... cornily titled, still, it boasts somewhat a good cast by HK mov
iedom standards... ekin cheng, chi lam, alex fong chung-sun, wayne lai (mr chai-9), eric kot, stephen fung, and the ol'timer mr Ti Lung.. Gals? hmm, there were a few screen shots of niki chow.. a minor, minor role..this piece of work, altho nothing earth moving, still, with the variety of talents innit, i was tugged along to finished the whole thing. the storyline is sheepishly predictable, with another one of the many HK triad storylines revamped to showcase a one-time bigshot legend, after 8 years of jailtime in (the always painted as notorious) thailand, back in HK for some doing-goods. so i guess the whole 2 hours or so was focused on his determination to turn over a new leaf, cleverly doing good with clever charities through clever accounting measures and clever public listed companies. though, in the end, the message that i got, was, it's all the same. life offers us paths more than one. you could always choose different paths at different stages of life. yet, once you start on the wrong foot, it'd be somewhat fated, as if written in the stars, how you'd turn out to be, say 20 years or so down the road. at one point, chi lam sort of mocked ekin for being foolish, trying to turn over a new leaf. a cup of black coffee was the example he made. threw in scoops of sugar, still it was pitch black. then the protagonist tosses the whole cup down the sink. symbolizing? a new cup would be the solution.
like huh?? that was something shallow aint it? desperate attempts, that's what i'd call it.
anyhow, yeah, i stayed till the end, wanting to find out how he'll end up getting himself out of the new mess he'd created for himself, and his motley band of brothers.
in true HK triad style, you fake your own death! how difficult can that be? just contact your trusted allies from (again,) thailand, to arrange some machine gun wielding thugs to smuggle your half-dead-but-not-dead body out from the morgue. indeed, it was a new cup he chose. simple enuff no?
oh well... that was some entertainment. funny how it should put some perspective into our real lives huh? in a way, movies, they mirror in one way or some other, 'real' lives of us normal folks living everyday normal lives. you'll just need to find the 'morals' from the stories on your own though..
so that was my friday night. nothing fancy, still, very pleasant. kinda simple, still, somewhat blissful.
and i'd better be quick and go hit the sack again, the plan for tomorrow, is to wake up as early as i can manage, to hit the tracks once again.
yes, another attempt, this time with a target. seriously, i would NOT want to be under the 'pre-obese' range again when NKF comes for another check 12 months down the road... hic!
another itch scratched...
