blu moon.. .

.. once in a blue moon, me and my mates do go for concerts... well, either they're darn cheap, or they're entirely free.. but sumtimes, we Do Pay for those that we adore...
the Peas were in town recently, ... for this...

well, what can i say.. the Peas hav always been marvellous with their works, no doubt about that.
their new single Meet Me Halfway really hit all the right notes with me then..
and then there was the all-time winner Where is the Love .. :)
cant help with the flash backs to the times when me and mates go clubbin.. . 1 bottle 6 glasses... =D

and then there was today.. . another blissful Sunday.. .
while lounging at Assam Pedas @ the Curve, catchin' up with Ling,
we chanced upon this fabulous group...

playing among all other fabulous tunes, ... the jazzy ~Blue Moon.

the stars align.. .

it's the first day of the 4-days long Raya holidays... :)
friends, colleagues, and Sis too, will be goin' away for some well-deserved breaks all around the country.... eating trip down south to Malacca, hangin' out slow & easy in Ipoh, hill-trips to breezy Cameron, beach retreats at our east coast Terengganu, and even waterfall treks at Sungai Lembing ... :)

yes, these are but a few of the many plans my dear acquantainces will be indulging themselves in these 4 days... in a nutshell, they've pretty much covered all the popular weekend retreats available here in dear ol' Mehsia... we hav the city, the food, the beaches, the islands, the hills (pure hills and also the one with the casino), the jungles, the caves, and if you'd like to flex your passport a little, you culd always, drive north to Hadyai, or down south to Singapore.. :)

i know it's a 'lil over the month August, but i'm being all patriotic here shouting I LUV MALAYSIA~!! hehehh.... awh, come on, dont you??!!? :D

back to september... it's the last day of the fasting month Ramadhan today..
dear dad has been following the practice of fasting since day one of Ramadhan.. .much to the amusement of friends and colleagues (me & sis's) at work.... dad's been doing it since the previous Ramadhan in '08... we feel proud of him for keeping at it for a full month, consistently wakin' up at 4 in the morning, and not breaking fast until at least 7.30 in the evening. he even forgo his daily and weekly rides and jogs, cuz really... im sure no one wuld be able to cope. 'stead, he does his cycling at about 9 in the evening... there was one evening when me, mom and sis were strolling home after bakuteh dinner nearby, and saw him wheeling his ride out... we were kinda boggled. like, "where's he goin at this hour???"

the most in-the-face one actually happened this morning.
was still starin' at the telly way 'early' after late night at starbucks ended... and dad came out from the room at exactly 4 in the morning. i asked what was he doing up so early? and he told me as a matter of factly: "Sahur marh~!"
=S

so i made way for him to do his daily stretches in the living room... for the record, he does perfect 180deg folds, stretching his arms upwards then bending all the way down, forehead to kneecaps. `salute! to dad!

and right before i slipped off to bed, i managed to see what he made for his Sahur meal:

.. seriously, it was something verri close to this.

happy Eid ul-Fitr everyone~~~

luved enid~!

i dont know about others, but when i was way back still a kid, i used to luv her so much.

i culd seriously name her as my first literature hero(ine) since the days i started understanding entire paragraphs. yeah, back then they were filled with fat-ugly-goblins, black-as-soot-golliwogs, mischievous-pixies, and magic-talking-toads... :)

and this, is the collection which i still keep on my desk until today.. . it is still, such a darlin' to store into boxes~!!
well, the boss isnt in today, so i was snoopin' around the world wide web.. googling and wikiing down to the very last bit of my curiosity... and i found this.. .

The Faraway Tree is a series of popular novels for children by British author Enid Blyton. The titles in the series are:
`The Enchanted Wood (1939)
`The Magic Faraway Tree (1943)
`The Folk of the Faraway Tree (1946)

In modern reprints, the names of the children have been changed:
* Jo is changed to Joe, because the character is a boy and this is the more commonly used spelling of the name for males;
* Bessie is changed to Beth, because the former name is seldom used as a
nickname for Elizabeth;
* (now dig this..) Fanny is changed to Frannie, because the former name is
slang for 'vulva' in the United Kingdom, and "bottom" in the USA.
* (and this too..) Cousin Dick, who appears in "The Magic Faraway Tree", has been changed to "Rick" as "Dick" is American and British slang for penis.

awh~... i know she's good but .. didnt know dame enid was such an advanced wordsmith... Just who wuld've thot that simple, angelic names wuld one day be associated with such important parts of the human anatomy... hoohoo~!!

wait til ur older..

1
well... i feel i gotta say sumthin abt work here coz i feel i had to. not too much time and space to be spent on this point though, somewhat necessary but not that important. yes i am gibbering but thats waht i do best. so.. work sucks as usual, nothing earth moving... life goes on, until waht comes next, that is.

fri night was spent rushin' back to the office to lock the gawddamn door... which the boss forgot to. anyhow, ill put the blame down to miscommunication. yeah, that's simply the easiest excuse, sorry, Reason, to give when things screw up. fine. enuff lines for work.

joined sharon, ray, and pin for dinner soon after... so apparently pin n sim did their ROM on 09.09.09 too... great. a lot of ppl i know did the same. somewhat makes the day not entirely thaaat special anymore innit?? ? :S

imagine ten years down the road... "we registered our marriage on the legendary 09.09.09, cheong cheong gao gao ma!" .. "serious? well us too!!"... and then comes "oh u know waht? we did too!!!"
okey, that was crap. call me jealous, pessimist, watever...

skipped "work" on saturday. ya that's today. and ya it's a saturday. was asked to "drop in" to the office while the team runs their training. that's right. their training. so what has it got to do with me? to "drop in" for a while... what in the world forrr???

went for K-session at Curve with sharon, evelyn, and their fren james instead.
that 2-hour slot was no means to satisfy the chords.. and the headbanging ridicule from Work. so, i left it to most of them to showcase me some mando- and cantopop... esp. james. wth? how culd anyone get so emo with alllll the songs?? ?

anyway. this pretty 'lil thing came up the screen a wee bit later...
1
.....................feel 100% (1996, ekin cheng, sammi cheng)......................

Oh wow, Oh wee.... my my my, from waht zaman did this come from?
i shot a look at sharon n told her... "this was sumthin from my blue pinafore days..."
she nodded and returned the look.
gosh.
well you see, you cant really blame us for picking the old songs to sing.
that's where all the gems are really... and this one, got me started thinking back on a lot of things that happened in the old days..... not 100% good old days, but still, preeety good ol'days.... :)

days with no tangible worries, other than passing the add.maths papers...
days with daily afternoon naps... and timely chinese dramas on tv2...
:)

but then ... as i said, life goes on.. at least until the next big thing happens.
1
got exceptionally, and extra mushy tonight while watching this on astro celestial.. (dad's out for his weekend night ride... so the tube's all mine :P)
.................. Wait 'til you're older (2005, andy lau, karen mok)...................

"... even if you have only one day left, live life and make the most out of it..."
darn this lau tak-wah feller... the tears welled up so geng, and before i knew it, i culdnt reach for the tissues fast enuff...

great. with these bengkak eyes of mine now... it'd be best i not do anything else for the rest of the nite.... :)
the perfect nite in.

sights & sounds..

it has been another shitty day..
it hasnt been this shitty since the last leave application hooha..
i wonder if it culd be me... but no, im positive ...
and just when it seems that things cant get any shiittier, they always do..
and when im at my best tryin to be not a jerk to the ppl around me,
that's when i run into most at the same time.
i try to chant my mantra, and i seemed to be able to see some genuinely nice people in the midst too.. well, either that or they're really some bunch of xtra-positive lot.

i try to not bring the gloominess home..
that's when i turn to sights and sounds for calm..
well, moderate chats seemed to help too..

beth rowley's sweet hours does the trick for now.. .
that, and plenty of laffs at home with sis and yang...
and O~ .. a nice chat wit nic who so happened to be online...
and for sharing amazing pictures like this.. .

he called this, sunset in buda..(pest obviously).. more unbelievable pictures at http://www.flickriver.com/photos/nicholaslam/

"what is the best shot that you'v taken to-date?" ... "the one that im going to take tomorrow.."

lurve that..... so i'll try to keep that in mind, and look forward to my best day tomorrow... if not then maybe another tomorrow, and the day after that.. heck why not make 'em all the bestest too? :)

it's sumthin`annual..

every year on the lunar seventh month, we'd get some pretty amazing sights here on my street in one-part-kl...
it's the annual por-tohh fest here on our street, and yup, the whole street is decked with zinc roofs and engulfed in lots of incense smoke..
at one end of the street, some giant effigies wait to be 'processed' as the fest reaches its final night (that would be tonight)...
and at the other end of the street, a neat lil' stage packed with some getai performers...
(Note:- a quick check on Wiki for 'Getai' yields: Literally song stage; Is a usually boisterous live stage performance held during the Ghost Festival commonly held in Singapore & Malaysia, in contrast to the generally solemn mood of the festival.)

as the fest reached its final night tonight, i reached home after dinner at 8plus to find the streets blocked with some RELA members flicking some blue torchlights signalling me to turn. yeah, yeah, i know, i know.... but then this time around, i must say, i've managed to find myself parking spots on both nights... not bad at all....

and tonight being its finale of sorts, the street is lined with tables stacked with offerings, and i mean STACKED with offerings.... roast pork got my attention obviously, crates and crates of beer.. tiger, carlsberg, heineken, u name it! i just didnt see any hoegaarden la tho`.... :P that, wuld be massive... lol..
and the made-up livestock offerings propped on the tables... gosh.. the army of roast chicken, enuff to feed ... O, im not supposed to go there... :~

well, this post is gonna be all words and no colorful images... cuz you see, itchy as i may be, i still culdnt bring myself to actually snap pictures of the whole thing. nop, not even using just the phone... cuz, really ... who knows whats out there ya? and i just wouldnt want to risk disturbing any ... at all ...
:S

better go clean myself now before the whole sky turns auburn with the flames....

our fed.gov

1
a mondayish tuesday...
a damp, mondayish tuesday...
a lazy and damp, mondayish tuesday...

the office is notoriious for its tender and projects submissions.
make that eleventh hour tender and projects submissions.
and today's mission?
to reach our federal government at putrajaya in 30 minutes ... from sec.19, pj ... =.="
of course, it wasnt me who drove... so, audrey was put to the test...

i hav no idea how these 'pro' sales people do it, but they can really time their journey pretty darn well... she decided to jump a red light in order to reach in 30 minutes flat. and she did it. the white viva was already swerving to my side on the left but no, audrey was 100% sure it wouldnt even come an inch close to her wira.... fine~~~

it took us 30 minutes to reach putrajaya at 12pm for the tender submission... and then it took us gawd knows how long to return to the office... :)
3pm to be exact....
.. coz we took our own sweet time checkin' out the sights at our fed gov... i came to know they hav these attractions like the Lake Cruise, the Wetlands (is it still there?), and some Taman Pertanian Warisan or sumthin' like that...
the giant mosque was really gigantic... that famous bridge was easily spotted from afar... yea, that one where all the brides and grooms flock to hav the wedding shots taken...

this was all i could manage... well, it was a damp, rainy day after all....

the view from Manhattan Fish Market @ Alamanda Putrajaya (the shopping mall...)
yeah, woek life was bliss for that short few hours while we digged into our garden herbs-baked and grilled platter for one...
=)
