like postpartum~

1
and so, the CNY holidays end.
as real work comes gushing in tomorrow, melancholy sets in for dear ol' me here.
the fireworks are still booming all around the nearby housing areas... it's non-stop, that's confirmed.
ironic how something so signicant, the sound, sights, and smell of the lunar new year, is at its peak, on like the last day of the holidays? (although, the chinese official lunar new year doesnt end until the 15th day; ie. on 28th, the last day of month February,) still, the holidays and most definitely, the holiday mood ends tonight.
the boss has already warned through my status on Facebook, not to be late for work tomorrow (much appreciated.. an early reminder of the impending woek week =S)
and the red decorations in the office would have to be taken down this week. yes, again, it is my priority to accomplish that task. this time, most voluntarily, coz seriously, how do you work with all those lanterns and greeting cards hanging around the office? not that i mind the festive mood at all, but yes, exactly, how do you really get back to work with all those festive reminders? so, yes, it will be on my to-do list to get the reds down a.s.a.p. by tomorrow.

i hate to do this, but yes, SIGH.... i'd hate to sigh here, but really, melancholy sets in the deepest especially when it's aftering a long holiday.
guess it's time to hit the daily grind again...
and look forward to the immortal one week again next year?
but before that, short term wise, i'll just have to look forward to the next weekend again. and mind you, it's another Long weekend here in KL (and i think the entire Msia too). weekend will start early on Friday, i'll just have to program the brain to focus on the friday dinner with the gang, and perhaps, a continuation to my weekend Jogs... .

to quote some phrases out of the current book i'm onto, Life of Pi :
.. But even animals that were bred in zoos and have never known the wild, that are perfectly adapted to their enclosures and feel no tension in the presence of humans, will have moments of excitement that push them to seek to escape. All living things contain a measure of madness that moves them in strange, sometimes inexplicable ways. This madness can be saving; it is part and parcel of the ability to adapt. Without it, no species would survive.

melancholic indeed. happy work week- - -

peculiar how things work sumtimes..

the Chinese Lunar New Year : Day #2 ...

channel surfing ... Like always, chanced upon something nice on the tube. first it was Queen performing Somebody To Love ... on this channel ..

their cute, retro outfits aside, it was soon followed by this ..

which later had me googling a bit... to find this:

Gorillaz are an English virtual band created in 1998 by Damon Albarn of Britpop band Blur, and Jamie Hewlett, co-creator of the comic book Tank Girl. The band is composed of four animated band members: 2D (lead vocals, keyboard), Murdoc Niccals (bass guitar), Noodle (lead guitar and occasional vocals) and Russel (drums and percussion). The band's music is a collaboration between various musicians, Albarn being the only permanent musical contributor. Their style is a composition of multiple musical genres, but with a large number of other influences including: dub, hip-hop, alternative rock, electronic and pop music.[2][3]

pretty impressive i do think. no, they arent anyone new in the scene, not at all... It's just that, it's always somewhat intriguing (to me at least,) how some people work on some thing they love, something of their passion, on project basis.. you know? like, as and when? when one is not binded by any border at all, creativity sets in (and sometimes depression too), and that is when the most unexpected and the most irregular happens. it's nothing tangible, in fact, even somewhat ethereal... yet, they exist. all the energy and efforts that went into making the albums. and their 3rd one, according to Wiki, Plastic Beach.. will be out somewhere March 2010.

yes, interesting talents indeed... which later lead me to this ..

Jamie Hewlett - BBC Olympics Title Sequence
[May 29, 2008]

Gorillaz collaborators Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett have created the opening sequence for the BBC’s Olympics coverage. Based on the traditional Chinese tale Journey To The West, here the characters Monkey, Pigsy and Sandy stand by the Bird’s Nest stadium in Beijing.

joglog #5

yeah... i know.
it shuld read "Joglog #5 & #6"... it has been my 'short term' goal afterall, to at least stick to the weekend jogs until it's like the eve of CNY.
=)

but then, life's full of uncertainties right? .. full of twists and surprises, things dont always work as planned right? Well, well, .. i'd made it sound all gloom & doom, when in fact, it had just been an itch. a coffee itch. yeah, late nite bucking way into 3+ in the wee morning,... i simply could not crawl outta' bed at 8AM now could i??? ... (tsk tsk..!)
oh well then i guess, the end-to-end, purpose-filled mall-strolling at 1Utama both new and old wings shouldve done the jog, i mean, job for the day.

now this, this is my Joglog #5 .. for today. Sunday. bright, beautiful sunday.
(note: the sun at 0931 to 1000 was truly, a burning lot... )

now, tell me.. what do you do when half way through your jog, you hear the national anthem being aired?

.. was already nearing the padang when i saw the crowd. i'd already noticed the number of cars parked way out and inside while i was making my way in. pretty normal for a weekend morning. just last week, i saw some busloads of young, fit, & pretty good lookin' tarcians in some Amazing Races of their own. so anyway, turned out they had another one of those corporate do's today .. a hari keluarga was in full swing at the field but wait a minute, why was everyone just standing still, terpacak in the grounds? So i paid attention to the background noise, peeled my ears away from kris allen's heartless, and heard the national anthem being blasted from the direction of the stage. tiba-tiba i got kalut. should i stop my jog and just plant myself halfway there too? ...

.. Dutifully i stood there, with both my hands neatly by my side, facing towards the direction of the song, with the rest of the family day participants that had nothing to do with me. not lifting even a finger to brush the sweat dripping down the temples, a result from the sudden halt from my already warmed-up jog..

that, i guess, could've been what i Should Have Done.
'stead, i just trickled down my pace to a walk. still not stopping the way i should in order to respect the anthem, i whipped out my mobile and took a shot at it all. the sea of tents and the sea of tudungs.
sigh... to be fair to myself, i could still see some others walking about outside the field area. my guess now? they were irrelevant people like i was, not there for the corporate do. what difference does it make actually? when it's the national anthem that we're talking about here?
oh well, i am guilty as charged. no plea to be recorded.

perhaps, just perhaps.. evening jogs would spare me all the dramas. no sane corporate co. will hold their events on a sunday evening right???
