monday high ...??!?

the haus is empty tonite... reached home onli to find everyone out on their own sprees~
it's a Monday nite, one where i left the office only at 8 in the p.m.... darn those SAPs and SPPs
it's been pouring too.. rite on the dot, after i got into my car at the office (seriously need to change my windscreen wipers soon... and maybe check my eyesight again on being nocturnally myopic.. )...

and yet. i feel kinda ALIVE tonite...
=)

Sis has got some awesome treats for me on this monday nite... =)
yup, she had managed to download the whole of RubberBand's Apollo 18 album (yay!!~ ^^)
the whole album's on repeat mode on my playlist now...
1
1
the whole house is Quiet tonite...
it doesnt feel mondayish at all...
no other sound other than those from my Windows Media Player...
no other sound other than the fan spinning rotundly from my room's ceiling...
no other sound other than the streams of running water from the living room aquarium...
bliss~... (on a Monday nite?!!)

for some reason too, i found the updates on the wall of my FB quite warmiing tnite...
one was getting married, after so many years now...
one was getting pregnant, tho' not that close anymore but hey, it's always good news to hear bundles of joy on the way...
a few were having their birthdays soon and near...
one was growin' out of his teenage phase... and yet he had already experienced so much. good for you Hong~! (LOL!)
few others were seen having the time of their lives ~on vacations~ ^^
and then there were the usual few who had their work grouches on updates, even from as far as the streets of London..
some enlightened me with new infos and quirky news...
some just plain reminded me that LiFe~ is simple.. and beautiful, in many possible ways...

it's pretti peculiar.. that i wuld hav such serene thots on a monday nite...~

infatuated

it all happened so suddenly... when i was barraged with a stream of Donnie Yen action flicks on 2 nights in a row over the last weekend, courtesy of Astro's Celestial Movies channel
=)
i know.
fact is, i've watched these few fims before.. but then again, really, it was really kindof a BLOW... a concentrated dose of DonnieYen brand of actions.. LOL!!~

first it was SPL... Sha Po Lang (2005)
A fast-paced action flick loosely set in 1997 HK, this is by far my best fix of DonnieYen..
of course, there were also Mr. Simon Yam and ol`timer Mr. Danny Summer (LOL ... weii, Susie arr???..)

that was followed by DragonTigerGate (2006)... which i honestly did not enjoy as much due to there were also some really unnecessary nicholases and shawns... =S

thank goodness, there was still FLASH POINT (2007)... this time, he was paired with dashing Louis Koo. But still, the main figure was again, DonnieYen. nothing more upbeating than watching him kickin' up some baddies' asses... =P

sunday nite came... and again, i was surprised with another DonnieYen flick. this time one that i had not watched before, An Empress and The Warriors (2008). Starring also, the very pathetic kelly and leon. they simply, trust me, simply brought the whole film DOWN. sigh... what a waste of DonnieYen being the mere sidekick...
oh well~! he was still the only reason i plodded on...

i thought that was all then, as the weekend drew to an end.
but alas, on a weekday nite, there was another offering of DonnieYen.. Se7en Swords (2005)! Hahah~!
this time, i was being near-desperate. coz really, the limelight was shared with SEVEN other actors!! he had major parts though, the other being (again) leon lai... (omfg?!!)

so. that was it...

lunch today, i professed my infatuations to my bunch of lunchin` ladies.
to which i was 'fed' by Yvonne, that there is another 'new film' (besides IpMan of course)... Painted Skin (2008).

hmm... from its synopsis, it's clear that he's not the lead in that film, but hey Waht z Heck!! i'm still gonna get my hands on that sooner or later!

but of course (many of courses tnite..) i managed to book the IpMan (2008) vcd from, ahem: ~audrey/ jess/ Sis~
LOL!!! this many people owns that CD i tell you!!

guess i'm not entitled to this infatuation alone~!

debunking China~

this is another attempt to break away from my daily ordain..
'stead of stickin around the tv tonite, i shall embark on posting here, some of the hi-lites to my Shanghai trip (and of coz, Hangzhou and Suzhou too)... somehow, Shanghai sounds and in fact, is more captivating than the other 2 chinese cities...
1
as mesmerized as i was with these relic-ish cities, with their marvellous 'before-time' water villages, rock forts, and quaint stone bridges over slow running canals, there was really one point where i told myself, that i would never return to China again... =P
Gasp! Gasp! why so? why so you may ask?
1
well, the cities were quaint and slow alrite... in fact, Suzhou is famed for it's slow paced lifestyle, very minimal divorce rate, and the best place to retire to a lifestyle waking up everyday to fresh air and clear lakes.. almost like what you'll see from an old chinese painting.
1
but still, along our visits to the many scenic spots around Hangzhou's West Lake, there were also, many.. Many.. Chinese nationals visiting the same spots.
some things never change, people and their culture, and it all gets WORSE when they turn up in Huge numbers.

1
debunking China #1:
the toilets are really Not that bad... i mean, somewhat different from what we have locally, but still, they are way more acceptable than what i've heard from horror stories of how travellers to China are advised to bring along large brollies, to shield your modesty when relieving yourselves at the public toilets. Yes. they used to have No Doors!.. Serious!!
well, of course, now that Hangzhou has been touted as the most scenic of China and the most visited place of all China, they have to of course, maintain that their now spanking toilets are the pride of their city.
BUT STILL, when they turn up in full force, hell hath no fury like the chinese do. they are famed for their large numbers. and you could just imagine what it's like inside a Public Toilet. 'nuff said i think.
1

now let's just (like what i tried to do in the first place), enjoy some of the highlights of the trip. things i find a little ironic, some scenic, some awe-inspiring... and some, sheer de-stressing. here goes:

some pre-China pics first (still energetic & full of zest~!!)

waiting for our flight... (@ Mary Brown, LCCT)

Left: Boarding the AirBus... Right: Lunch at Hangzhou Airport..

road-trips. loads and loads of road trips. seen here, we were heading from Hangzhou towards Shanghai..

the setting sun ~ @ Hangzhou Bay Bridge..

Shanghai's morning sun ~ view from our room @ Hua Yi Hotel

~behold: Shanghai's super highways...

~ view of the Shanghai Oriental Pearl TV Tower, from across the Bund (Waitan) ~

arriving at Nanjing Rd. ~Shanghai's premier shopping street...

1
debunking China #2:
we were told by our tour guide Xiao Sao, the chinese govt. does not encourage trades of international brands. hence, all 'branded' brands are of course, way much more expensive here in China, when everything Else screams cheap!!

Shanghai's famed Yu Gardens (Yu Yuan).. before you get to step into the ancient gardens, you'll be greeted with a very lively bazaar, selling all kinds of local foodies, from pingtang-wulou, to skewered soft shell crabs, Stinky Tofu (i grew to love 'em here!!~) and of course, Xiao Long Pao~!!

this is the garden.. just like what we see from all those wuxia pictures and movies...

this is Xiao Sao, our lanky Hangzhou-based tour guide... Nice chap that fella~!

@ somewhere off the beaten track.. Truth is, halfway through the tour, I just couldn’t be bothered where we were at all!

But this, this I could never forget. This is WuZhen… the water village of yesteryears…
Words cannot describe the mood here in this old town. Yes, it’s still inhabited but onli by old villagers and of course, throngs of tourists!

The most memorable of all nights, this one where we had our own sweet time delighting in some skewered bbq meat and veges by the roadside near our hotel in Hangzhou, the Jiangfeng Hotel… simply yummylicious…!~

so, would i still go visit China again? hmmm.... only Time will tell...

addicted to Out-of-the-ordinaries...

1
Oh~!
the AGONY!!!
of having to wait a full week before another episode of my addictive taiwanese drama is available!!
Urragghh!!

yes it's thaaat serious.. well, at least a.t.m. it IS!
=S

Addiction... it's baffling what fuels our addictions, of whatever sorts...
and of late, my addiction to the drama BaiQuanNueWang.. starring the ever dashing Ethan Ruan (with his signature "mi~mi yen" LOL)
was even in a 'discussion' of sorts with Sis today, of how she thought the drama was like getting nowhere with the recent twist of events.. to which of course, i digressed. the plots will twist again i told her, look out for surprises! i mean, that's what dramas are supposed to do rite? they're out-of-the-ordinary~!
yea, yea i know these all sound too over-rated and such, but hey, that's what you Label as Addictions, okai!!~

perhaps, simple entertainments like these, provide the simple (and free) avenues in alleviating us from the everyday stress(es) of life... to be exact, Routine-Weekday-Life...
i dragged a bag of paperwork back from the office today, and after painstakingly going through like ~30% of it, i called it quits and dived for the lappie.
a 60-minutes fix of some out-of-the-ordinaries, was exactly what i needed on this "Heavy" monday nite...!!!

hail the weekends~!!

1
it's another round of beer session on a sat nite, this time at Brewball, with their pool tables at per hour count...
furious as they were that i didnt drink up for dropping the dice, i couldnt be bothered at all~!
anyhow, HAIL the WEEKENDS people!!!
it was a damn f*cking HOT saturday, what more with me just returning from Hangzhou yesterday, with their temperature averaging at 14 - 18 deg celcius... god i'm so jealous of them gurls wearing those trendy garbs and knee length boots at this time of the year... Grrr....

our visit to the Chinese cities were as per expected, a hurry-hurry trip rather than a leisurely one. well, that's what you usually get when u go on tours... (imagine our bus trips from Hangzhou to Shanghai, then from Shanghai to Suzhou, then back to Hangzhou) ...

(L-R: View of the Shanghai Oriental Pearl TV Tower from the Bund; Shanghai Nanjing Rd. premier shopping street; Shanghai Yu Gardens & Bazaar)

well, the plus point was, we had a rather amusing Hangzhou-based tour guide, Xiao Sao ('Sao' as in "Shaw" ~ same with Sir Run Run Shaw) =P
also, AirAsia X wasnt that impressive at all... only a longer airbus with three aisle of seats instead of the usual two. and more flight attendants...
more pictures and the low down later, once i gather all the snapshots from Joyce and Yvonne... (plus if i'm in the mood then..)

for now, i shall concentrate on laying low for the weekends... glad that i was in Group B, at least we have another 2 days for unwinding before hitting back to office on Monday...
as per usual, Mondays will come for sure, but for now, it's still a very early Sunday morning.
now, please excuse me while i go catch up on my latest episode of Bai Quan...

~ciao~!

`nother Weekend~

yes. it's another weekend... after another slow-moving week at work (altho previous Mon was a national hol..)
work is shit as usual..not worth mentioning here anymore...
so back to my weekends... mom sorta complained to sis that my weekends are spent coming home at 3 in the mornings, then crawling out of bed at 3 in the afternoons, followed by a systematic routine of eat-sleep-eat-sleep... heheh...
Funny how mom got such interpretations of my lifestyle... shit~ she must be starting to worry edi....

anyhow... tonite was spent watching a Dwayne Johnson saving some angelic kids while maneuvering their way up Witch Mountain ... heheheh... yep, those kids were the non-harming aliens, and yep, it didnt realli registered to me earlier today that D.Johnson is actually The Rock... shit!
not worth the rm11 ticket price (gsc) if u ask me... altho there were some slapstick laffs here n there, courtesy of the very cute Seth and Sara... and yes, it's another Disney movie where nobody except the villain (in this case the very ugly Siphon) dies... but, i guess we all already know that.
it's like somewhat an M.I.B. / Klaatu / Scorpion King flick... if u get what i mean...
someone please tell me tho' why is The Rock always in flicks chaperoning kids now?

oh well,...
will be flying off to Hangzhou this coming Mon... so technically, it's not a working Mon (yay!)
but it will be the same kinda mood with all the colleagues around for this co. annual retreat.
and to think that group A (the big bosses' and spouses group) and group B (all of us the fun gang) will meet right on the first day of our trip! oh well, let's just get it done sooner the better then...
the latest google check reports that the weather is 5 deg celcius in Hangzhou now... i sure hope Ling will be able to loan me some snug winter trench coats... but uhm, in shock!ng p!nk? gulpp... =P

ahh yes, pray too that my trusty Olympus will not Fail me again come my visit to these Chinese cities... hangzhou~shanghai~suzhou...

beer.rain.coffee.

1
that's my weekend to-date..

ended Work Friday at 7ish after a day-long product meeting, rushed home to get freshenup for a much-needed beer-nite-out at After Hour.. =)
only 3 of us tnite, no problemo tho`... the 4 jugs of happy-hours were downed in no time at all,
which kinda left me swingin` a wee bit... getting ol' perhaps...
dim-sum couldnt be forced down the throat at all... Hot chinese tea was all i could manage.... ish ish ish...!!

started Leisure Saturday at 3ish after bouts of rollin` on the bed...
with the sky pouring, maggi kari with egg and sausage was somewhat a treat indeed..
logged into FB on this rainy sat noon... while chatting online with some gud kakis...
life is such indeed ...

continued Lively Saturday Nite with a coffee date at 11ish...
as usual we saw an AW at our usual coffee haunt, this time with an additional SC tho`...
local celeb spotting aside, we bitched about Life @ Work...
in a nutshell, we sang along to The Big Band playin' at the opposite Indochine:
Work Sucks! I Know! (All The Small Things ~ Blink 182)
capping the nite was a take-away of McD's 6pcs nuggets...
another lesson learned for the day, never eat while walking (towards yer car)...
dropped the parkin' ticket halfway, found it after some merries-go-rounds... tsk tsk tsk!!

good nite`!
